We have made the cat and dog domesticated but did not educate ourselves on how prolific these animals can be.
One unaltered female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats in just seven years if they all survive and all go on to breed. (See chart below)
I believe that most people are unaware of these staggering statistics and if they are educated, things will change. Perhaps the CSRA will have nothing but no kill shelters in the future. That would be a wonderful day!
Spayed or neutered pets are healthier because it decreases their risk of breast and uterine cancers, cystic ovaries and prostate problems.
Spayed female pets never have heat periods so male dogs or cats do not congregate in your yard. Neutered males are less likely to run away, to be hit by cars or get into fights which saves vet bills and/or loss of your pet.
Two uncontrolled breeding cats…… plus their kittens and all their kittens, if none are ever neutered or spayed add up to:
1st year: 12 2nd year: 68 3rd year: 382 4th year: 2,201 5th year: 12,680 6th year: 73,041 7th year: 420.715 8th year: 2,423,316 9th year: 13,958,290 10th year: 80,399,780 2 litters per year 2.8 surviving kittens per litter 10 year breeding life

AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Feed your animal when you get home. Start with a small amount of their regular diet and gradually increase the amount of food each half hour, until normal amounts are achieved. This lessens the chances of vomiting. Make sure they have plenty of fresh water at all times.
No baths or swimming for at least two weeks after surgery. Make sure the incision site remains dry for one week. Discourage licking of the incision. They have stitches on the inside that will dissolve on their own, and the outside of the incision is glued. If the glue gets wet, the incision could open up. If this happens, please contact a veterinarian immediately. If the Life Saver is not open, this means that you should contact your local veterinarian or one of the Emergency Veterinary Clinics.
No running, jumping or rough playing is allowed for one week. Dogs must be kept indoors and must be walked on a leash. Cats must also be kept indoors.
Keep your pet away from the opposite sex for two weeks.
Check the incision site twice a day. There should be no drainage. Redness and swelling should be minimal. Adult dogs may show a slight cough. A depressed, slowly increasing appetite for a few days is not unusual. Vomiting, diarrhea or severe depression are causes for concern and you should contact our office initially. If we are not available, and it is not an emergency, please leave a message and we will call you back shortly. If it is an emergency and we are not available, please contact your local vet or one of the emergency veterinarian clinics immediately.
Thank you for using the CSRA Life Saver to have your pet spayed or neutered. You have made the responsible choice which will be beneficial to your pet’s health and also eliminate the chance of an unwanted litter.
Please tell family and friends about our affordable program
We want to decrease the amount euthanized in the CSRA and need your help
